mercruiser 5.0 water in motor

I had a bad riser it was letting water past I cranked it with the spark plugs out replaced riser tried to crank it again would not crank so I pulled the plugs that had water coming out and still had water how do I get the remainder of water out

Sounds as if there is still water, perhaps if you are lucky it only needs gaskets. If the gasket between the manifold and riser isn't a good seal it can allow water into the exhaust stream where it can get in combustion chambers. If not perhaps it's the manifold that is compromised & allowing the water.

thanks but what I am trying to figure out is how do I get the water that was left in there out

Oh, just remove the spark plugs, take off the distributor wire to the coil, and crank the motor. Then shoot some oil in each plug hole to stop any rust forming.
