Situation: I am a total novice on boat work but can't find a mechanic who can work on my boat in the next month and I have vacation in a week (Wife really wants the boat working). I do work on car and race car engines, so it's not a question of being able to turn a wrench.
Story: 2 stroke Mercury 90 motor bogs down under load. My regular mechanic thinks needs new switch box. Did this once before 6 years ago, same symptoms, and it was switch box at that time.
Questions: 1) Can I replace this myself? (not even sure where it is under the cowl) 2) What is replacement switch box part number? 3) Where can I get one quickly at the best price online?
Any help is enormously appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
