i have a 1995 5.7 carb. mercruiser with a bravo 2 in a rinker 265 viesta vee. going along 3/4 throttle engine started to pop , almost like a ignition ping , i t was completely warmed up , all normal gauge readings then it started loosing power and died in the harbor. i got it towed back ,let it cool off it started back up and i idled it back to my port . could it b a bad coil heating up or the module on the side of the distributer failing? it has new plugs ,filters tested fuel all good , any ideas ?

Re: engine died

Mine did that when the wires were old. I'd do wires cap and rotor if they are not new. How is the fuel and fuel filter? And check condition of a couple of the plugs.
