a Gallon!!! Wow how many boats are you painting? The only need for the ZC primer is on bare aluminum and normally a boat that had previously factory painted will only need to be prepped.
Seriously..... a gallon is way too much I think I used 2 good size spray cans for the parts of my boats and motor lower units. It really only takes a very light coat.
