Raising the engine

I have a Lowe Suncruiser Trinidad 200 with a 50HP Merc big foot engine. I believe there is a loose wire that prevents me from lifting the motor using the throttle handle. I can lower the motor but not raise it. The switch on the motor itself works fine. The question... Can the throttle switch be repaired or replaced by itself or must the entire throttle arm be replaced?

The switch can be replaced. See your Mercury dealer parts dept. You will need the serial number.

I just replaced the switch on my Merc 60. Yes, you need the Serial number and a picture of the handle is helpful.

Depending on which control you have, you may have to split the control box to replace the switch. It comes as a switch with a long lead.

You can also buy the parts cheaper on Iboats.com.

It's rather common for those switches to go out.
