I'm almost ready to install my new hatches. They are 3/4" carpeted plywood and will be attached to a 3/4" carpeted plywood deck. So, what width of hinge do I need to use? -- 3/4"??

Re: Continuous hinge

Just a thought but i think a stainless or aluminium piano hinge of the right length coverd with marine vinyl to hide the hinge might work well "just my thoughts not an expert"

Yep, I'm getting a SS piano (continuous) hinge for sure. I just need ot make sure I get the right width for this application.

3/4" hinge should work. The ply of the carpet should cover the hinge to a point. Is your hatches water tight? If so,some vinyl install over a piano hinge would help.

Re: Continuous hinge

Personally I would use a 1" for better holding power and then bolt them through instead of screws, then cover with vinyl.<br />just an idea.
