I have a 1968 evenrude 65hp I have been working on and it starts up just fine and runs for a few min and stalls out. I noticed a ark between the coil wire and the fly wheel. Is this normal? I would guess not but just wanted to make sure before I start replacing things. Could this be the cause of my stall out. Any help would be great. Happy to give additional information.

Also any recommendation on a gas tank size.

Welcome to the forum.
You should not have any arking from any wire to the flywheel. I would guess you have a bad wire, if I remember correctly, the wires screw into the dist cap and will not just pull out. It could very well be the cause of your stalling problem.

Put some di-electric grease on the threads and around the wire before you screw it in.

Ok maybe I will try that before replacing the wire. I have already cut it off about a inch and put it back in and it still did it. Can't hurt to try right.
