I recently inherited a late 60s early 70s Thornes aluminum runabout. The boat needs a little TLC--so I am replacing the interior, it's being repainted, etc. Underneath the plywood floor were chunks of 2" styrofoam. Because they were in the channels underneath the floor, they were absolutely water logged. I'm assuming it wouldn't be smart to replace it with a water absornign product? What kind of foam should I use?Can anyone help?
Lake Jumper,Use closed cell foam, it won't absorb water as long as the cells remain intact.I got mine at Fiberglass Coatings Inc. St. Petersburg, FL.See the thread, "extra foam too much time", there is a link to my project and some foam pictures.Peace.Ed.
