1977 85 hp johnsos

Good day everyone,

I am having problems with getting my 1977 85 hp to stay running. I had to replace the key way in the flywheel, I TDC using the #1 cylinder and placer the fly wheel back on and it was pointing at the TDC. I would like help and some pictures for the coil setup and wiring.

Your help would be appreciated

Welcome to iboats. What exactly is the problem? If you put the proper OEM key back in and not some hardware store product and torqued it to spec you shouldn't have to mess with any timing. You can go to ishopmarine.com and find the microfiche for your ignition setup.

You may find some wiring diagrams listed in the first thread of this Johnson/Evinrude tech forum helpful.
