2000 C50 2-stroke head temp?

Curious what the head temp should be on my 2000 c50? I figured out my motor was going into safe mode this weekend but got no alarm cause the lower sensor with the pink and black wire was not actually in the head, it had come out at some point...

Anyhow, I checked the t-stat and it was decently crusty so I put a new one in. Water pump is new. At idle it does not seem to be overheating, however I wanted to check it on the water tomorrow with a temp gun. I have verified the alarm works and have put the sensor back in its place, so hopefully will get an alarm if it is overheating.

However on the flush muffs this afternoon I noticed that the water coming from the telltale is pretty warm. As I recall this water should not be warm? Anything that could be causing that??? Exhaust leak in the mid section?
