Does anyone have any first hand valid experience with In-Hull mounting vs transom? I need to know how much signal loss you might have suffered going thru the hull, and what you preffer and how you use your unit.
Here's why I ask: Just put in a Humminbird 587ci HD with down imaging. Very careful install. But after lots of adjusting, research and setting changes, I still read way too much clutter at anything over 5-10 mph. Am I asking too much. I have read these are capable of Higher speed readings...or maybe that means just reading bottom contour and depth?
Considering an In-hull, or possibly a dual setup with a switch of some sort to change between the two.
What I'm after: Accurate low speed readings with clarity, and was hoping for some cruising speed capability to mark fish or structure (is this even possible? ) along with good bottom contour, without all the clutter.
Thanks in advance.
