Simple Yamaha I/O Question

I posted in the stern drive forum to no avail. I have a 92 Celebrity that was highly over-propped by the previous owner. (21P 5-blade). My question is as follows:

Every time I look up a replacement prop, several manufacturers list the same part number for both a Yamaha prop and a Mercruiser Alpha One prop. Are they interchangeable? This would definitely open some testing options since my dad & 3 friends have Alpha Ones. Thanks!

Re: Simple Yamaha I/O Question

The prop number is the same(Mercury prop). But the Yamaha uses a different Mercury Flo Torque hub number(835271Q2).

Solas makes Rubex hubs that are interchangeable with the Flo Torque hub; meaning they'll fit the same props as the Mercury hub fits. The Solas number for the Yamaha is RBX-103.

So I'm not sure I understand. Are the hubs the same? Or just the prop with a hub adapter?

Re: Simple Yamaha I/O Question

Step one; You purchase the hub set (Merc or Solas) for your Yamaha drive.

Step two; You stick that hub set in any Mercury(or Solas) prop designed to accept the Flo Torque hub.

Step three; You go out and test the props. :)
