Throttle handle

I bought a 2010 Bentley pontoon 2 weeks ago. It has a 50 HP 2009 Merc EFI Bigfoot motor. When we had it out for the first time last week, I noticed that I have to manually hold the throttle at Full position to maintain that speed. If I let it go, the handle returns to half speed. The boat runs great with no other problems. The motor is still warranted till 11/14. Any ideas what to look for? Do you think this is covered under warranty? If it was a IB/OB I would not have to ask these questions but the whole outboard thing is new to me. Thanks in advance.

Re: Throttle handle

Something is binding somewhere. Disconnect the cables from the engine and see if the control box and cables are operating freely. If they are working freely, the issue is in the motor linkage somewhere.

Re: Throttle handle

OK. I will try that. I did not want to touch something and then have them tell me I voided the warranty. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
