Ok. Here's the deal...
I have a 1979 chrysler 700 skier 70 hp with 3 Tillotson wb-26b carbs. I did a rebuild on the carb and stripped the threads where the fuel bowl retaining bolt goes... great! The thread size of the hole was 5/16. I tapped the hole to 3/8, cut a bolt to the same length and voila! A perfect fit. The problem that I'm having is that on the bolt there are 2 gaskets... one on each side of the bowl. One sits on top to the shaft that the bolt screws into, one on the outside of the bowl that the bolt screws up against. Both prevent fuel from leaking out the bolt hole on the bowl. I put a rubber o ring on the bolt, and it lasted enough to get me out on the water and back, but leaked fuel by the time I got back. I was looking into permatex or some other silicone gasket maker but didn't know how that would hold up to fuel. I also tapped out the fuel bowl so the new bolt would fit... I was thinking locktite, but again, didn't know how it would hold up to fuel.
Anyone have any suggestions on this one?
Also, if all else fails, I have no problem buying a new carb... except that I can't find one. WB-26b. Anyone know where I can find one or if there is a part number compatable for this?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Not sure, i might have a set of carbs.
I need pic of the opening on the front and rear of the carb.
Put in a ruler so I can see the size of the openings.
The jets might be different but you can change them.
Bottom top or middle carb? The top has a different part #.
I'll send a PM with my e-mail.

It is just a fiber gasket! If you can't find one at the auto store, cut a couple from the black 1/32 gasket paper they sell.

a 3/8 hole punch, scissors and as Frank said, gasket paper you are all done.

He stripped the threads in the bolt hole and the bowl leaks.

No, Jerry: he repaired the threads by tapping larger and now the original bowl gaskets don't fit. The gaskets from a TC carb should fit a 3/8 bolt.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The hole punch is a must... With the larger hole there isn't much "meat" left for a gasket... I'll give it a shot. Thanks again.

Remember, because of the thin material left, punch the center hole first with the punch and then cut around with scissors for the outer diameter.
