i have a 1987 15 hp evinrude it cranks fine from a cold start and runs & idles great with no sputters but after running for 30 min or so, once u shut it off for 15-20 min, it acts like its not getting fire, but it is. Then after a lot of continuous pulling, and playing with the choke and throttle, it finally cranks. But there isn't one specific thing that makes it crank again it just does when it wants to. I've seen other posts. of the same problem but they won't crank this one will it just takes some tuggin on. I was wondering if this would be something simple.

Sounds like it is overheating and then cools down and will start. When you are running before you shut it off put a couple of fingers under the telltale and see how hot the water really is. You should be able to hold your fingers on the top of the head for a fairly long count of 5. Welcome to iboats

Get an adjustable air gap spark tester and set it at 7/16 ". Check your spark when it quits on you.
