I have a 1990 mercury black max 150.. how many cranking amps should I need at minimum? I know the more the better but I just got a new battry with 445cca at 0degrees and 575 at 32degrees. Im having trouble with battery and I think it may not be big enough..

That battery is a 24 series right? That is all you should need. If she cranks slow, clean the battery cables. Look for corrosion on the whole length of the battery cable, under the insulation

I changed battery out to a 800cca at 0degrees.. hopefullt this mihht do trick. The original battery would die out on third startip. If your fishing you dont have enough time to recharge battery in between stops. Also tilt and trim kills battery quick as well.. Hopefully it was battery and not my stator or anything. I willbfind out today... rhanks..

I have always used a 950CCA with my 1988 Merc 115 inline 6. It may be overkill, but it always starts my engine.

Hopefully you had a bad battery.

Since your motor is supposed to have a good charging system, the battery should never go dead. You might test charging system.
