Is the removal and cleaning of carbs off 1988 50hp similar to the ones 0n a 1990 50hp ?.The manual I am using is from 1990 -96.

I'm sure it's close enough that you'll be able to take them apart and clean them and put them back. Link and sync procedures may be different, though. Still learning about that myself. You should probably bathe the carbs in carb cleaner (with all rubber and plastic parts removed) for a couple days, rather that just spraying carb cleaner through the holes you see. There are very tiny holes that you don't see that could be clogged. The bath cleans these holes better than a spray washing.

On the 1988 the main jet has no way of removal that I can see.No slot for a screw driver or interior threading for for a jet removal tool..Any ideas?
