Can anyone tell me what causes our Trophy to list to port by approx. 5 inches? The boat also wants to veer to port when under power. We have a 5 litre mpi mercury inboard and alpha one mercruiser leg. Would appreciate any ideas on what the problem is caused by and how to fix it.

Quite simple actually, you have to much weight on that side. Perhaps fuel tank and battery or kicker motor, whatever it may be you will need to move something to the starboard side. Because of the extra weight on that side it will also steer that way as that side of the boat is deeper into the water. Weight and balance is key to all boats from row boats to cruisers, even how your passengers set can play a big role in how your boat performs. Hope this helps......

Your extra weight may be from waterlogged flotation foam. Check your equipment, battery and gear stowage first.

Thankyou for your reply. We calculated that there is approximately 300lb more weight on the port side. This is due to the 0.0 Merc kicker, waste tank and fresh water tank being on that side. Is this enough weight to cause the problem?

Thanks for the advice. We will check this out. Should the flotation foam be readily visible from the motor compartment?
