I have recently started having a problem with my 1987 Johnson GT150. It'll start and idle just fine and even for the first 20 or so minutes of riding it does great at all speeds. Once its warmed up good and I try to go to 3/4 throttle or greater it begins to shut off and on. It doesn't bog likes its a carb problem but just suddenly cuts off and on. Does this sound like the power packs or what?

It could be.
Check your stator resistance and output too if possible. Also look for any cracks on it.

Sounds like ignition problem. Go to cdielectronics.com for troubling shooting procedures.

Pull the flywheel and check so see if the magnets are still firmly in place.
