Hello,

I'm wondering what would be the best aluminum prop for my 1981 Johnson J60ELCIH 60hp? We use it for tubing and fishing mostly.

thanks,
Ken

To do this right we need to know what size and weight boat.Brand, model and year at least. Typical load and activities. Your present prop size(usually under the prop nut or near the base of the blades) and a lightly loaded wot rpm and gps speed.

Hello, the boat is a 1976 Larson ski boat, 14", pretty light weight, around 700lb, there are usually about 3 people in the boat, we use it mostly for tubing and fishing. I'm not sure what size the current prop is as the boat is about 200km up north, was hoping to buy a replacement prop before I head back up there. the current one for dinged pretty hard on a rock a few weeks ago, I'm sure it could be repaired, but it's an old prop, so a new one would be preferred.

thanks again,
Ken

Propping without a tachometer is pure guess work.

The engine should be able to turn 5500-5700 at Wide Open throttle with a light load.

My WILD GUESS would be : 13 1/4" by 17" (possibly 19").

Your 2.23 gear ratio would allow you to run a 17 pitch prop for general purpose use, but a 15 pitch would be better for water sports with three people in the boat, allowing the motor to run closer to the upper portion of it's 5000-6000 rpm range.
