Alright... the lower unit goes back on, bolts tighten completely. Go to move the shifter/throttle. Not happening. The throttle was forward during installation. Moved the shifter cog in lower unit to where propeller is in gear turning clockwise, this turning the prop shaft counterclockwise. What have I done wrong??? Any troubleshooting help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re: 1979 mercruiser 260 lower unit

Were are lower unit guys when you need one LOL, I'm sure they will be around shortly but this will bump you up so one of the experts can chime in. I have put a couple of these on but as before no expert here. If you try to move the throttle and it hangs then I would pull off the drive and try again. The way you said you did it is the way it should be done. If your cables are in good shape then more then likely something moved during your installation.
