Lower unit interchange 1957 to 1962 Evinrude 10hp (yes I checked the sticky)

I have a 1957 Evinrude 10hp parts motor and a friend needs a lower unit for his 1962 Evinrude 10hp.
Visually, they look the same but can anyone tell me conclusively whether or not they will interchange?

In a word, no. He needs a 1958 through 1963.

Thank you for the fast reply FR. I'm going to double check the model number on my parts motor... It just may be a 58.

Hi Aero. I believe you'll need a post '58 model due to the difference in bolt pattern (4 vs. 5). Here are some handy links.
