I had problems with the main tank either overfilling or not filling. Checked float - OK. Replacement control unit has extra wiring that says it should get hooked up to the pulser coil wire in the CDI.
The old control unit had no such hookup.
Can anyone tell me if these wires need to be hooked up?
Motor is a 1987 225 Excel Model # V6FXCF1-X
Control unit part # 6E5-WS857-00-00

Thank you

Mike

Re: Precision blend oil control unit replacement

Thank you 99Yam40.
The instructions say to hook it up to pulser coil lead #2. The picture given does not match the number of terminals in my CDI.
Is there a color code I can go by? My wiring diagrams do not identify the pulser leads by color.

Re: Precision blend oil control unit replacement

Thanks. The chart was a huge help.
I also managed to speak to Yamaha customer service with success.
They said it doesn't matter which pulser coil you use. The modification was an upgrade to make sure the engine was running.

Unit replaced and not pumping at all now. The float is calling for oil (energy on brown wire, none on white but the only time the pump operates is with the switch. Possible bad unit out of the box?

Reinstalled old control unit which was intermittent and it turns on the pump so I don't see how it could be a bad wire in the harness to the pump.
The shop wants to see the installation. I'll have more news Monday.

Shop checked the setup themselves and agreed that the control unit was bad.
New control unit ordered.
I will update when installed.
I'm learning way more about the Precision blend system than I ever wanted to know.

Shop now refusing to make good on unit.
Running with the old setup for now.
Getting ready to jump out the whole mess and go pre-mix.
