AQ 125a overheating

My engine overheated so I took a look and the coolant was empty. Dipped a bucket in the lake and filled it up. Next day same issue again. Its leaking to empty in a day. It has a new to me used and tested heat exchanger last year. Where should I start? The boat is currently 300 miles away at the lake so I'll need a game plan for when I get up to the lake next to work on it. Is this a common one?

First i would check the bilge and see if its leaking into there, the have a look at your engine oil...see if it reads higher that was is suppose to be there. Short of that, a defective H/E would be the next thing i would look at.
