First time posting so go easy!

I just bought a 1998 SeaRay 215EC it is my first inboard outboard!

Really like the boat but having a couple of issues

The boat can be difficult to get running. It seems to start much better when I have the throttle open a little at start
Not just in neutral

But the biggest issue is the boat REALLY dosnt like to get up on plane

Prop is a vengeance Numbers on prop are. 3 90 35. The long number is 48 16316A45 19P

Full throttle boat is over 4000 rpm. Speedometer isn't working

So you are stating you don't already have trim tabs? If not, that helps tremendously. Regarding the speedometer, have you checked on the back of the stern to see if it is disconnected?

Welcome to IBOATS.

Maybe you could provide us with a little more information on your propulsion package so we know what you've got:

4.3v6, 305v8, 350v8, etc.
Alpha1 gen 2 outdrive? Possibly a Bravo 1?

Engine and drive serial numbers can help also as troubleshooting a carb engine can be different than a mpi engine.

Yup, a little more engine specifics would help. Also the exact RPM and boat speed at WOT.

Trim and weight balance can make a boat hard to plane . . .so try experimenting with those things. Usually, you will have to go up to about 3500 - 4000 RPM to get up on plane, then you can back off as desired.
