The lower on my gen 2 is cracked where the ring screws in at the prop.
Can this be fixed?
Can I remove the upper and lower and put a gen 1 on there?

no, GEN II to GEN II , AlphaR/MR to Alpha R/MR If your not leaking gear oil then run it untill it breaks. Most likely a freeze crack from leaving the drive in the up position.you can clean and JB Weld the crack so its not visable

It looks like someone hit something and the prop got shoved up and cracked it at the top where the threads are inside. I pulled the prop out and the inside was full of mud

more like tried backing off a mud stump. But i guess a little mud is better than this guys vibration problem

I keep forgetting to take a pic of my outdrive, but talked to a guy and he said the crack is minor and can be welded (whew)
Apparently they only made gen 2s for a few years and its hard to find a good used one that is cheap and isn't cracked.

They've been making them since '91...and are still making them.
