76 mercury 500 50 hp will not go forward

Hello I have a 76 mercury 500 that will not move forward in the water. It just revs up. The reverse works fine. It shifts into gear fine. When I hook it up to muffs the prop spins in forward bit in the water it just wont move. I changed the cables. Adjusted them properly. Just can't figure out why it wont move forward. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Draw a visible line/mark through the prop hub and try again to see if the line changes position indicating a spun hub.

Thanks Gerry. I will give that a try and see what happens. Ill give an update in a few hours.

Checked that out it was not the problem. Even changed out different props. it was the lower unit. We changed it out and I was cruisin all over the water. Very happy. Thanks for the help.
