temp gage for my johnson

ive got a 1996 50 hp johnson on my 24 ft suntracker pontoon its a j50tleds
i had to order a powerpack for it last week its a malory ignition that is suposed to replace the oem part but i would like to disable the slow function and install a temprature gage anyone know if a automotive type temprature gage wil work or will i have to order a special temp sender from johnson :)

you have to have a gauge that is 33-240 ohms and a temperature sender that is the same resistance.

I'm not sure if you have the 1/8 npt threaded hole in your head or not but if you do this sierra temp sender will work 18-5896 or a faria tamp sender 90401 but it's the same part.

On my 99 Johnson 150 I installed two temp gauges and disconnected the tan wires from the temp sensors in the heads and it will never go into slow mode now.

An automotive gauge will not work as the ohm resistance is different. I bought two faria gauges off ebay for 24 each.
