My 1990 60hp was diagnosed as going into SLOW. Once the tan wire from the temp sensor was connected directly to the Powerpack issue was solved only thing is now the horn doesn't sound as the wire that does make it beep isn't connected anymore to anything.

I opened up the harness and found a diode connected on the tan wires. I can get continuity across the diode ...
does this mean it's bust or does the motor have to be running or something??

If it does have to be replaced what do i replace it with ?

Re: Tan wire diode query

You should have continuity across the diode in one direction only, reverse your meter leads and you should read no continuity. If you have continuity in both directions, replace the diode, make sure you get the polarity correct. It is available as a replacement part thru BRP dealers. I don't know the rating of that diode so you could get one at an electronics supply. Maybe someone else can provide the specs of that diode?
