I have a question concerning the clipper circuit assembly on a 1971 evinrude starflite 125 horse outboard. Can the motor be run without the clipper assembly and if so are there any jumper wires or fuses that should be put in its place. I have heard that you can just remove it and be fine. Any answers greatly appreciated.

You can remove the clipper and just by-pass it. Just make sure all your battery cable connections are good, clean and tight.

Thanks for the info. I got it running but am having trouble with the shifting. I have the selectric shift and am wondering if I can bypass the shifter and use a toggle. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

There are others on here that have done it but it's not recommended due to safety reasons. You could also screw up your L/U if you put the toggles in the wrong position at the wrong time.
