76 johnson 55 starting issues

Rebuilt the carbs, ever since then its hard to start and idle when cold and if you run the engine for a length of time like more than 15 min then shut it off it wont start to easily. Very hard to start and I mean very hard to start what did I do wrong lol

Don't know what you did wrong. Is the manual choke lever in the center "automatic" position? Are the choke shafts free to operate by the electric solenoid? Do you have the throttle shafts properly set up and synchronized properly with the spark advance (you need a service manual).

Almost always, a hard starting engine that does run find after starting is a fuel issue. Seems your choke system is not working properly... Cold engines do not atomize fuel very well and that is the main reason for a choke supplying extra fuel when starting. But hot starting is also an issue too. Hot engines do atomize fuel well and so a choke during that time could flood the engine with too much fuel for starting. Different issues but both go to the choke system...

The choke system is working with the automatic choke, ill run out and see where the lever is, for manual choke it needs to be in the middle slot right?
