Bilge Pump, Upgrade?

I have a 2005 Stingray 195LX, and it came with a 500gph bilge pump that operates by float, and/or manual switch on dash.

I was wondering if it would make sense to upgrade this to an 1000+gph? Is it easy, advisable to do this?

Safer?, etc.

PS: I noticed up to 750gph uses same diameter hose, when you get to 1000, hose is bigger.

Would it be worth upgrading to 750gph?

Thank you

Yes, an upgrade makes sense, however, IMO a 750 isn't buying you much. I'd keep the 500 gph unit in place to deal with rain water and spray. It's plenty big enough for that and doesn't draw much current.

Consider ADDING a 1000-1500 gph pump with separate plumbing to help with any real issue. Mount the float an inch or two higher in the bilge than the one for the 500 gph. That way it won't kick on unless the 500 is overwhelmed by the volume of water coming into the boat.
