150hp mercuy outboard motor dies out right when i go for my hole shot

Hey whats up everyone, I got a 1987 150 mercury, it always starts fine and idles pretty good. it usally lets me get threw my hole shot a few times or right away when i get on the lake, if it dosent die out the motor runs great, but once i get to a spot and fish a while and go to start and leave to a new spot, i start it, put it into gear, go about 5mph then do my hole shot and the motor dies out. like its getting to much gas or not enough gas ??? I m just looking for some ideas i could try to fix this, Carbs? fuel pump? bad gas? Any help woud be great thanks chris.
