After the motor sits overnight with fuel tank hooked up and pressurized, it is VERY difficult to start. I smell gas while pulling relentlessly. Eventually we get it started, and for the rest of the day it starts in one pull. This morning a fellow boater saw us pulling like crazy and offered some starting fluid. One squirt and it started with one pull. Any ideas what could solve this?

Open your vent screw up at night. Is this an old pressurized metal tank? Check your plugs they may be fouling. Not enough info here to give you much more input. Motor will always start easier when it's warm. Maybe you have bad compression and when the motor is hot and rings expand you have better compression so check compression also.

Do not leave the pressure tank pressurized. Always crack the cap when not in use.

Is the choke plate closing fully?

Also, dont use starting fluid. There is no lubricity in it. Use premixed fuel in a spray bottle if you must.
