New head unit no sound

Im stumped here.

Old unit didnt work. Bought a new headunit 2 new speakers. Rigged it up red and yellow together to constant power with toggle switch to cut power. Powers up perfect but i have no sound. There is no amp. I have hooked the new speakers directly up to the new head unit still nothing. Had the same thing happens on another brand new unit took it back and exchanged it new one same deal no sound. Fader us fine. Powers up fine. No other speaker wires are grounded out. I have no clue at this point

Can anyone help?

I think the best way would be to bench test it. Pull the radio and speakers - hook it up directly to to battery and see if there's sound? If there is, then it's cabling - obviously, if there isn't then it's either the speakers or head unit.
