That same "play" will be in every wheel bearing, new or old. But when it is installed that play disappears. However, with that stated, I thought I saw a few pits in the rollers. And again, those wheel bearings are very cheap, just replace it...

I say yes. I saw no burrs or scores on the rollers and as long as the hub race is unmarked, your good to go after packing. The cage gets loose like that in just a few hundred miles of towing and after cleaning all the old grease. The cage does two things, maintains roller spacing and acts a a retainer. I would re-pack and use 'em. If you have concerns, $10-20 depending where you buy.

I would replace it, the cage is the thing that holds the rollers in place and is made to have slack in it and it is often lose, how ever I saw pits and score marks on the rollers, its done. Any and I repeat any marks of any sort on the rollers is a reason to replace.

Ok. I might as well replace them. Any suggestions as to what brand bearings are decent? I don't want to spend more just for the sake of it, but I also don't want to buy a set of bearings that will fall apart quickly.

My local West Marine has a set of CE Smith beatings for $24.99 a set....but I absolutely hate to buy anything there.

Walmart, auto parts store or a farmers supply store like Tractor Supply all carry trailer bearings.

Yup...I tried iBoats first. But price and distance from NY had me looking elsewhere also.

Make sure you replace the race whenever you replace the bearing.

Definitely gonna replace the bearings on both wheels. Going to order 2 sets of bearings, grease seal, dustcap, and cotter pins. Total $37 bucks including shipping
