I'm hoping someone can help me with a boat I bought. I know very little about boat motors.
I have a 50hp mercury outboard, the serial number sticker is missing so I don't know what that is. I suspect it is a 1985 model, but I'm not certain.
The motor will start and go into the forward gear or reverse will will only go at idle speed. After looking it over (as a novice) I noticed that the throttle linkage isn't connected in any way to the carburetors. It appears that a coupler is missing or broken. I assume there should be a link connecting the two, a spring or screw or something? My reasoning is, how the heck else would it throttle up?? But I'm no mechanic......
Anyway, any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
