run/off switch connection 8 hp 2 stroke Mercury

When I bought this engine, the toggle switch had no continuity in either 'run' or 'off' positions, so I connected the wires.
Then, when tracing the wires from the tiller handle's 'stop' switch, I found the bullet connector from the run/off switch unconnected, with a possible 'T' socket for another bullet connector.
I'd like to be sure where to re-connect it, anddisconnect.jpg is the 'run/off' switch supposed to be open, or closed, for the ignition system to spark?
The yellow/black wire green arrowed in the photograph is from the tiller 'stop' switch, and is connected to another yellow/black wire on the right side of the switch box.
Thanks for your advice.

In the run position the switch should be open. When closed this puts a ground on the black/yellow wire to shut the motor off.

Thanks, and the spark tester lit/blinked OK for both cylinders.
