Switch Box or Coil ...which to replace ???

My 79 70 hp Merc serial # 5352753 still has no spark to #3 cyl. but I think I'm getting closer. I switched #2 coil wires with #3 and the problem moved to #2 cyl . I moved them back the way they were and checked the voltage from the switch box to each coil at idle, #1 read .08-1.00 volts, #2 read .07-1.00 volts and #3 read 0.00 volts. I don't know what the readings should be and I don't know which one or both need replacing.........but I know group of fellas that do know......again..I'd really appreciate your help................thanks ...Ray

If it was the green/red and green/white wires that you swapped then you have a bad switchbox.

bhile....those were the two wires I switched and this old Vermonter says thanks and now I'll look for a new switch box......Ray

bhile.......I found a good used switch at my local Merc repair shop and the tower is running on all 3 cyl...thanks again
