Ahoy, Salty dogs!
As my classic 1973 Glastron approaches seaworthiness I am baffled concerning the tachometer. It didn't work when the previous owner got it and, amazingly, it still doesn't.
On a whim I connected my fluke multimeter across the battery terminals with and without the engine running, and there was seemingly no charge being applied. 12.4XX volts with and without power. I diode-tested the rectifier and found it to be fried. The new one fixed the charging problem (voltage moving up to 12.8, 12.9, and so on) but not the tach.
All the wiring appears to be intact as installed at the factory.
I don't know where the voltage test points are, or what to expect when I got there, so I am casting myself on the mercy of the Forum and hope to glean yet another secret from the archives of Neptune...

Thanks in advance,

Mickdougal

First you need a rectifier.

Second you have a Private Message.
