went out today and the motor acted up , 1990 60hp. it dropped RPM and sounded like a clattering noise coming from it.

I whipped of the head to check cylinders and I think I have water intrusion on no.3. Now I have rebuilt this motor recently so all gaskets are new. Only thing is no.3 looks cleaner in about 3/4 of the dome, and the plug should be fouled from runnign it at 100:1 but looks clean, and there are rusty signs at the bottom of the gasket...

the gasket looks damaged here too at the top of the hole on the LHS

As clean as it is, looks like water. Did you do a compression test before you pulled the head off ??

Yeah was thinking double oil in my head when typing and the usual 50:1 turned into 100:1 .....obviously it should be 25:1 (which is what i'm running) good spot nwcove...
