Squeaky Belts

I have tightened my PS and Alternator belt several times already this season with this new boat and they only stay tight about 10-12 hours of running and loosen up and start squealing again. Am I missing something?

Without looking, I would bet the pulleys are rusty and you have black belt dust all around the area. Remove them, sand them smooth and repaint and I will be they last a lot longer.

That rust acts just like sand paper and grinds your belts thinner and just makes it act like they are loose.

A much lesser reason would be the pulleys were out of alignment, but it doesn't make it happen as fast.
