Does anyone have any opinions on the Side Imaging fish finders? They are a little costly and was wondering if they work that great. Would love to hear from anyone that has one on their boat.
Thanks

Re: Hummingbird Side Imaging?

I have 2 of them on my fish and ski. Both Humminbird 798 ci si HD. Love them!!!!
That being said, in the part of the country I live in there is not a lot of stuff on the bottom to see. LOL
But I have found some things that I would have normally missed so I guess they served their purpose. As for fishing help, not so much. As I said there is not a lot of cover or structure in the lakes I fish and I fish shallow most of the time.
I have gone out on Lake Michigan and used the down and side image to looks at ship wrecks, that is really neat to see them.

As a short answer, I would recommend them if you can afford the extra cost.

Beware that HB and Lowrance side imaging don't heave compensation. The water must be fairly calm to get a decent picture. If you boat on coastal waters the time you can use the unit is limited
