I have a 1988 Yamaha ETLG outboard. The remote oil pump is fried and I don't have the bucks or motivation to replace it. I rigged the float in the reservoir so the alarm won't sound and I've been running a 40:1 ratio by putting oil in the tank. I know that's most likely to much oil, but I thought it's better safe than sorry. Does anyone know the correct fuel/oil ratio for this motor?
Second, is there any way to hook a temp gauge up to that motor. My boat had a Merc motor, which I had put a temp gauge on. The gauge is still in the dash so if it's possible to put a temperature sending unit on the Yamaha I would like to.
Third I probably need to do the maintenance stuff on the motor. It was maintained by a factory trained mechanic till about two years ago. Any suggestions on what it would need.
