Just took the boat out for the first time in two years. I didn't get vary far. When I tried to put it in gear the rpm's went up before it would go into gear. I have a chrysler single lever control and was wondering if there was any kind of adjustment to change the ratio of the throttle to shift cable. it will shift into forward and reverse if i move the shifter arm on the control box in the rear that the cabe goes into. this is a 78 omc stringer outdrive. I believe it is hydro mechanical shift. also does anyone know how far the shift lever in the back is supposed travel between forward and reverse. it seems to move about two inches either way before going into gear.

Re: single lever control

The shift lever on your converter box only moves about +- 1" in either direction from the middle neutral position.
