First let me start by saying I am not incredibly mechanically inclined (challenged would be a better description) any ways I am trying to start my grandfathers old motor I do not have a manual and apparently the only way to get one is to purchase one..(unless anyone knows where to get one online free) anyways I have changed the sparkplugs hooked up the gas with the correct oil and tried to pull the rope to start it and the whole thing is locked up..can anyone help on this? a starting place would be great..besides taking it to a mechanic..

Sounds like it's froze up. Take the plugs back out, lay the motor down on it's face (plug holes up), squirt some penetrating oil into the cylinders. Gently try to turn the flywheel. You may have to repeat this a few times and it may take a day or two. Just go easy when turning the flywheel.
