I have a 1986 Yamaha 150 HP outboard. if I activate the electric oil transfer pump manually with the toggle switch on the control unit it does transfer oil from the remote oil tank to the main tank. however, when I run the boat for extended period the oil alarm sounds and the low oil light comes on due to low oil in the main tank. when I remove the float/sensor from the main oil tank on the side of the engine and manually move the float up and down the oil transfer pump does not activate. however when I move the float all the way down the low oil alarm does come on. I'm hesitant to just replace the sensor/float without being able to confirm that is the problem due to it's cost.
Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this problem?
