Boat: Wellcraft 218 Coastal
Engine: 1995 Mercruiser 4.3XL
All last season I had been dealing with a tight throttle travel at higher end of throttle travel. This weekend as I was moving through the range where the throttle had been stiff, I felt something give way and lost throttle control. I thought that the control cable must have snapped but I found it intact when I removed it today. I also found that there was nothing that retained the entire cable from slipping independent of the throttle lever. There is a butterfly retainer the holds both the shift and throttle cables as they leave the control lever. Best I can tell there is supposed to be a part that restrains the throttle cable in that butterfly but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Does anyone know where I can find it? Or is that butterfly clamp intended just to keep the cable from sliding too far aft?
