I looking into buying a 85 capri and when I looked into where the area where the plug is and the engine rest on it has a crack in the fiber glass. The owner said it doesn't leak or give any issues. He said that he took it in because he was concerned and the mechanic said it was a common thing with them and if he wanted to put a 2x4 where the engine mounts that would giveit better support. Does anyone know about this kind of thing and is it ok to do or should I not buy it. It has a 125 out board on it.

walk away

a nearly 30 year old bayliner is almost guaranteed to be toast... the "mechanic" is either a BS story or a fool.

He IS right about one thing it IS common for an old boat to be rotten and cracking apart but a 2x4 brace is like putting a bandaid on a sliced artery.
