I am new to the forum, I am having trouble locating the information I need to get our boat up and running. I apologize if this information has already been posted.

We currently have an 1986 Seaswirl with a Cobra outdrive. However the engine was bad and it was removed.

With the cobra unit, the flywheel and engine coupler have the bolt pattern for a one piece rear main seal. My question is,

will an older omc, non cobra engine coupler work with the cobra unit?? Do they have the same spline and length?

I already have a good engine, however is is an older engine and has the two piece rear main seal bolt pattern.

Thank you for your response

You're ok. You can buy a Cobra-compatible coupler for 2 piece rear main seal Chevrolet motors
part number 0983902
It has the same splines and everything- just the different bolt hole pattern you need.

(the 3.0L 4 cylinder kept that crank flange right through 1989, so that coupler solves this problem)

Some 1986 OMC 4.3's had the 2 pc rear main, unfortunate you had a later one. The switch happened mid-year.

Awesome thanks. Will the flywheel interchange as well?
